book of july: promises to keep

This month’s book of the month was a good one. Pretty quick read, but enjoyable. I was recommended it by Good Reads, after listing that I had read my neighbor’s books.

Promises to Keep, by Jane Green, was a nice summer read. One of those books you delve into on the soft sandy beaches of the world.

Honestly I think it was a little hunky dory. By that I mean peachy. By that I mean it seemed a little unbelievable. Like the ideal situation for the main plot twist to occur in. This isn’t to say I think it was necessarily a cheery ending. But it was a happy one. Essentially. But maybe that’s just me.

Why don’t you go check it out for yourself and let me know.

  1. I’m going to have to check this out.
My recommendations of the moment for a future book?
    1. Bossypants by Tina Fey
    2. Anything by David Rakoff or Sarah Vowell
    3. Summer Sisters by Judy Blume*

Glad I stumbled (read: had to click on it since we share a name) onto your blog.

    * Yes, THAT Judy Blume. If you want a good end of summer read, I think this one is pretty rockin’.

    • I love that we have the same name, you are now on the list of Meredith’s I know (I’d say we know each other now, yes?). You’re number six. The famous one(s?) don’t count.

Also, LOVE Tina Fey’s book, I’ve mentioned it a couple times on my blog…I mention her approximately 5% of the time.

The others I’ll have to check out!! I went through a Judy Blume phase as a youth, so I may have read that one also, but as I am uncertain it’s clearly good for another go.
